Tinted Reading Glasses Are A New Trend
I think we all want to see the world through rose colored glasses from time to time. Tinted reading glasses actually do have a purpose other than to look cool. They do help to reduce glare from harsh lighting often found in an office environment. Glasses can easily be tinted to match the color of the frame for a fashion look. You can even get the glasses tinted to match your birthstone. Birthstones have long been the subject of legend and folklore and many people believe that wearing your birthstone protects you and brings good luck. Hey, it can’t hurt.
Photo chromic lenses such as Transitions are of a varying brown or gray tint that darkens in response to sunlight. They offer 100% UV protection for your eyes. The brand name Transitions lenses are only produced in lightweight lenses such as plastic or polycarbonate. The Corning Company makes Photogray and Photobrown photo chromic lenses and also has a Thin and Dark lens made of glass. Sunsensors are their line of sunglasses. Doctors often recommend tinted lenses for children since they tend to spend more time outdoors. Polycarbonate is the safest material choice for children’s glasses.
Lenses can be tinted in an all over color or gradient tints. Most tinted reading glasses are purely to enhance the looks of the wearer. Green, blue, pink, and yellow are popular fashion tints. Yellow lenses will enhance your vision in cloudy, overcast conditions and are very popular with hunters. Lenses that offer sun protection tare typically gray, brown, or green. People who work on computers all day long are often advised to wear tinted reading glasses or computer glasses. They reduce the reflection on the screen and the glare of overhead lighting, making long periods of looking at the computer screen more comfortable for the wearer.
