Gone are the days when men have only two styles of reading glasses to choose from; ugly and uglier. Designers of mens reading glasses are listening. They know you want to look good too, so a lot of styles are available now. The frame choices are comparable to what you would find in prescription glasses. They do not have to be expensive; you can find them from $10.00 and up. They are sold in drugstores, Wal-mart, online, and even in warehouse stores. I saw them in Sam’s club in a three pack. This is great for those of us who are always misplacing our glasses.

My husband had two pair of prescription glasses. He was training horses at the time and his lightweight plastic lenses were too easily scratched at work so he opted for a second pair with glass lenses to wear at work. Of course he was dirty and sweaty one day and removed them to wipe his face. He put them on top of the truck and lo and behold later drove away with the glasses still there. Now I ask you, how likely is it that you can drive away, have your glasses fall off the top of the truck and run over them yourself? As it turns out, this is not so far fetched. They were destroyed. Oh my, I would much rather have replaced a $10.00 pair of reading glasses than those. That brings me to the point that active men are pretty hard on eyewear, so if possible, get a cheap pair to wear for sports and outdoor activity. You could insist he wear safety glasses to protect his prescription lenses, but that would mean keeping up with two things instead of just one.

Mens reading glasses come in single vision and bifocal styles. You can get sunglasses with UV protection and folding glasses perfect to put in a pocket or briefcase. A lot of men are as fashion conscious as women and they want some variety in their eyewear. Most major designers have a collection of stylish reading glasses and they are inexpensive enough to own several pair. You can get full lenses or half glasses, wire rimmed or rimless, the selection is endless. They actually have a pair called “Clark Kent” glasses for the superman in your life. I have also seen some that fasten over the bridge of the nose via magnetic closures. These are great because there is no way they will fall off and be lost or trampled. Of course, don’t neglect getting an eye exam regularly to rule out other problems, but if you just want to read the phone book, try reading glasses.
